## 1. Who We Are
PeaceParent is operated by APP DEV MASTERS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14989815). Our registered contact email is info@appdevmasters.com.
APP DEV MASTERS LTD is the data controller for the personal data processed through the PeaceParent application.
## 2. Data We Collect
We collect and process the following personal data:
**Account Data:** When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier, and optionally your name and email address (if you choose to share them). We do not receive or store your Apple ID password.
**Profile Data:** Display name you provide during onboarding.
**Co-Parenting Data:** Messages exchanged within your co-parent space, calendar events, custody schedules, schedule change requests, and activity log entries.
**Subscription Data:** Subscription status and transaction identifiers processed by Apple. We do not collect or store payment card details.
**Device Data:** Firebase Cloud Messaging token for push notifications, device type, and operating system version.
**Analytics Data:** Anonymous usage events (e.g., feature adoption, onboarding completion) processed by Mixpanel. These events do not contain message content or personal identifying information beyond a pseudonymous user identifier.
**Guidance Data:** If you use Daily Tips or Practical Guides, we store the topics you choose, how often and at what time you would like tips, which tips have been sent to you, and any tips or guides you save. Tips and guides themselves are the same for everyone and are not personal to you.
**Private Writing Data:** If you use Notes, Journal or Books, we store the notes and journal entries you write, their titles, dates and any tags you add, and the books made from them. This writing is private to your account. It is never shown to your co-parent and is never added to your shared co-parenting history.
**AI Feature Data:** PeaceParent has five optional features that send text you have written to our AI provider: AI writing help, Ask Advice, Create a Guide, your own tip topics, and writing a book. In each case only the text for that request is sent, and only when you ask for it. This is described in full in Section 5.
**AI-Generated Content:** Guides written for you, tips written for your own topics, and books written from your writing are stored in your account so you can read them again. You can delete them at any time. Answers from Ask Advice are not stored at all.
## 3. How We Use Your Data
We process your personal data for the following purposes and legal bases:
**To provide the service (contract performance):** Creating and managing your account, enabling co-parent communication, shared calendars, and custody scheduling.
**To send notifications (contract performance):** Delivering push notifications for messages, calendar events, and schedule changes.
**To improve the app (legitimate interest):** Analysing anonymous usage patterns to improve features and user experience. You can opt out of analytics tracking by contacting us.
**To comply with legal obligations:** Responding to lawful requests from authorities and maintaining records as required by law.
**To provide AI writing assistance (consent):** Sending the message you are drafting to an AI provider to generate alternative wordings, only when you ask for them. You may withdraw this consent at any time in Settings > Writing help, without affecting any other part of the service.
**To provide AI guidance features (consent):** Sending the question, guide topic, or tip topic you have written to an AI provider, only when you ask for advice, ask for a guide, or add a topic of your own. This is a separate agreement from AI writing help, because you are describing your own situation rather than editing a message you had already written. You may withdraw it at any time in Settings > Guidance help, without affecting any other part of the service.
**To write a book from your writing (consent):** Sending the notes and journal entries you choose for a book to an AI provider, so it can compose them into chapters, only when you ask for a book to be written. This is a separate agreement again, because what is sent is writing you made privately for yourself rather than text typed for one request. The screen where you choose your writing tells you this before you ask, and you can stop it at any time in Settings > Book writing. Stopping it prevents new books being written and does not affect books you already have.
**To send Daily Tips (consent):** Delivering the tips you asked for, at the frequency and time you chose. Tips are off until you turn them on and can be turned off at any time.
## 4. Message Encryption
Messages exchanged in PeaceParent are encrypted on your device using AES-GCM encryption before being transmitted to our servers. Encryption keys are generated and stored locally in your device's Keychain. We cannot read the content of your encrypted messages on our servers.
**Important exception:** AI writing assistance works on a draft before it is encrypted and sent. If you choose to use it, the text of that draft leaves your device in readable form and passes through our servers to our AI provider. This is unavoidable for the feature to work — encrypted text cannot be rewritten — and it is why the feature is optional, requires your explicit agreement, and only ever runs when you ask it to. Section 5 explains exactly what happens. Messages you write without using AI writing help are encrypted as described above and are never readable by us.
Text you enter into Ask Advice, Create a Guide, or your own tip topics is not message content and is never sent to your co-parent, but it is likewise sent in readable form when you ask for it. It is not encrypted on your device, because it is not a message.
Your notes and journal entries are also not messages and are never sent to your co-parent. They are stored privately to your account rather than encrypted on your device, which means we hold them in readable form. If you ask for a book to be written, the pieces you chose for it are sent to our AI provider as you wrote them — a book cannot be composed from text that cannot be read. Writing you do not choose is never sent.
## 5. AI Features
PeaceParent has five optional features that use artificial intelligence. None of them ever runs on its own — each happens only when you ask for it, and each tells you what will be sent before you do. Message rewriting, Ask Advice, Create a Guide and your own tip topics ask you to agree the first time you use them. Writing a book tells you on the screen where you choose your writing and ask for the book, so you see it every time rather than once.
Two things are true of all four:
**Who processes it:** OpenAI, L.L.C., acting as our processor. Your text is processed in the United States, which means it is transferred outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area.
**Training:** nothing you send, and nothing generated from it, is used to train or improve any AI model. Our AI provider retains the request briefly — currently up to 30 days — solely to detect misuse of its service, after which it is deleted, unless a longer period is required by law.
### 5.1 AI Writing Assistance
AI writing help is an optional feature that suggests alternative ways to word a message you are drafting. It is off until you turn it on, and the first time you use it we explain this processing and ask you to agree.
**What is sent:** only the message you are currently drafting and the rewriting instruction you chose (for example "make this shorter", or an instruction you typed yourself), together with your device's language setting.
**What is never sent:** your message history, your co-parent's messages, your calendar, your expenses, your children's names or details, your account details, or your encryption keys.
**When it is sent:** only when you explicitly tap a rewriting option. Nothing is sent as you type, in the background, when you view suggestions from an earlier request, or when you send a message normally.
**Who processes it:** OpenAI, L.L.C., acting as our processor. Your draft is processed in the United States, which means it is transferred outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area.
**Training:** your drafts and the suggestions generated from them are not used to train or improve any AI model.
**Retention:** we do not store your drafts, your instructions, or the suggestions produced from them. They are not written to our database, our logs, or our analytics. Our AI provider retains the request briefly — currently up to 30 days — solely to detect misuse of its service, after which it is deleted, unless a longer period is required by law.
**What we do record:** a request identifier, which rewriting option you chose, how long the request took, how many words were involved, and whether it succeeded. These contain no part of your message.
**Your control:** suggestions are shown only to you and are never sent to your co-parent. A suggestion only becomes your message if you choose it, and it is only sent when you press send, exactly as with anything you write yourself. You can decline the feature when first asked, or turn it off later in Settings > Writing help.
**Accuracy:** AI-generated suggestions can be wrong or can change your meaning. Always read a suggestion before sending it. Suggestions are not legal, medical, or therapeutic advice.
### 5.2 Ask Advice
Ask Advice lets you describe a co-parenting situation and receive practical suggested next steps. We ask for your agreement separately from AI writing help, because describing your own situation is a different thing to consent to than rewording a message you had already written.
**What is sent:** only the description you type, your device's language setting, and your country setting. If you choose a topic for your question, that topic is sent too.
**What is never sent:** your messages, your co-parent's messages, your calendar, your expenses, your children's names or details, your account details, or your encryption keys. Nothing is taken from elsewhere in the app and added to your question.
**When it is sent:** only when you press send on a question you have written. Nothing is sent as you type.
**Retention:** we do not store your question or the answer. Neither is written to our database, our logs, or our analytics, and there is no history of past questions — an answer exists only while you are looking at it.
**Safety:** if a question suggests someone may be at risk, PeaceParent shows emergency and support contacts instead of, or alongside, ordinary suggestions. We record that this happened as a plain counter, without your question.
**Accuracy:** answers are written by AI and can be wrong. PeaceParent does not give legal, medical or therapeutic advice, cannot assess anyone's safety, and does not replace a professional.
### 5.3 Create a Guide
If the guide library does not cover what you need, PeaceParent can write a private guide on a topic you name.
**What is sent:** only the topic you type and your language setting.
**What is stored:** the finished guide is saved to your account so you can read it again, and it is visible only to you — never to your co-parent, and never added to the shared library. You can delete it at any time by swiping it away. We also keep a count of how many guides have been requested for each subject area, so we know what the library is missing. That count contains no topic text and is not linked to you.
### 5.4 Your Own Tip Topics
You can add a topic of your own to Daily Tips, and PeaceParent writes a set of tips for it.
**What is sent:** only the topic you type.
**What is stored:** the topic and the tips written for it are saved to your account, visible only to you, and delivered to you one at a time. Removing the topic deletes its tips with it.
### 5.5 Writing a Book
Books turns notes and journal entries you have written into a keepsake book, composed into chapters by AI. You choose which pieces of writing go into each book; nothing is included that you did not pick.
**What is sent:** the full text of the notes and journal entries you selected for that book, and your language setting. Nothing else from the app is attached — not your other writing, not your messages, calendar, expenses, or anything about your co-parent.
**Why it leaves in readable form:** your private writing is stored for you and is not shared with anyone, but a book cannot be composed from text that is not read. For that request only, and only for the pieces you chose, your writing is sent as you wrote it.
**Who processes it:** OpenAI, L.L.C., acting as our processor. Your writing is processed in the United States, which means it is transferred outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area.
**What is stored:** the finished book is saved to your account so you can read and export it, visible only to you. You can delete it at any time. Your original notes and journal entries are unchanged.
**Training:** nothing you send, and nothing generated from it, is used to train or improve any AI model.
**Accuracy:** a book is composed, not copied. It can get a detail wrong or put events in an order that is not how they happened. Read a book before you keep or share it.
**How you agree, and how to stop:** the screen where you choose your writing tells you that the pieces you pick will be sent to be composed into chapters, and asking for the book is how you agree. It is shown every time, not once. You can stop it at any point in Settings > Book writing, which is kept separate from the other AI settings so turning one off never turns another off. Stopping it prevents new books being written; books you already have stay yours to read and export.
### 5.6 Your Control Over AI Features
Agreeing to one AI feature does not agree to the others. You can decline when first asked, and you can withdraw any agreement later — Settings > Writing help for message rewriting, Settings > Guidance help for Ask Advice, Create a Guide and your own tip topics, and Settings > Book writing for books. Withdrawing takes effect immediately and affects nothing else in the app.
Content generated for you stays until you delete it, and can be deleted individually at any time.
**What we record for all AI features:** a request identifier, which feature was used, how long it took, how much text was involved, and whether it succeeded. These contain no part of what you wrote and no part of what was generated.
## 6. Data Storage and Transfers
Your data is stored on servers provided by Google Firebase, located in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
Analytics data is processed by Mixpanel, Inc. in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you use any of the AI features, the text you enter for that request is processed by OpenAI, L.L.C. in the United States, as described in Section 5.
## 7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your user profile is permanently deleted.
- Your space membership is removed.
- Local data (cached messages, events, drafts) is erased from your device.
- Encryption keys are deleted from your Keychain.
Guidance data is private to you and is deleted with your account: your tip topics and preferences, the record of which tips have been sent to you, tips and guides you saved, guides written for you, and tips written for your own topics. None of it is shared with your co-parent, so none of it is retained for their access. You can also delete a generated guide or one of your own topics individually at any time, without deleting your account.
Your private writing is deleted with your account: your notes, your journal entries, their tags, and any books made from them. None of it is shared with your co-parent, so none of it is retained for their access. You can also delete any note, entry or book individually at any time. Deleted writing is recoverable for a short period before it is permanently erased, so that an accidental deletion is not final.
Shared data (messages, events, activity logs) within a co-parent space may be retained for the other parent's continued access, as these records serve as an immutable co-parenting history. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
## 8. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
**Right of access:** Request a copy of your personal data.
**Right to rectification:** Correct inaccurate personal data.
**Right to erasure:** Request deletion of your personal data.
**Right to restrict processing:** Limit how we use your data.
**Right to data portability:** Receive your data in a structured format.
**Right to object:** Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
**Right to withdraw consent:** Where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@appdevmasters.com. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or your local supervisory authority.
## 9. Children's Privacy
PeaceParent is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@appdevmasters.com and we will promptly delete it.
## 10. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate PeaceParent:
- Firebase (Google LLC): Authentication, database, cloud messaging.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions.
- Mixpanel (Mixpanel, Inc.): Anonymous analytics.
- OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.): the optional AI features — AI writing help, Ask Advice, Create a Guide, and your own tip topics — and only if you choose to use them. See Section 5.
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing their processing of your data.
## 11. Cookies and Tracking
PeaceParent is a native iOS application and does not use cookies. We use Mixpanel for analytics, which assigns a pseudonymous device identifier. Automatic event tracking is disabled; only specific user actions are recorded as described in Section 2.
## 12. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:
- Encryption of message content using AES-GCM before it leaves your device, with the exception described in Section 4.
- Secure storage of encryption keys in the iOS Keychain.
- Firebase Security Rules restricting data access to authorised users.
- HTTPS for all data transmission.
- AI provider credentials held only in server-side secret storage, never in the app.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
## 13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app. Your continued use of PeaceParent after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
